Peter Murphy - The Troubadour June 29th

Headed up to LA on Wednesday to see Peter Murphy play the Troubadour, which of course rocked. He covered most of the new "Ninth" album, which to be honest, needs a couple plays before it really starts to grow on you. My wife and I have seen Peter probably about 6-t times together and the venues are always awesome. We've been at the tried and true House of Blues shows, but its shows like this one at the Troubadour and clubs like the Galaxy theater where Peter really gets personal with the audiences. It literally was only about 120 people in the small club and it was basically a private show.

As I mentioned, he rocked most of the new album and pulled out a couple classics including Fall With Your Knife (video above) as well as Marlene Dietrichs Favourite Poem. He even pulled out some Bauhaus (which had a couple people wondering if Danny Ash was going to come walking out) And while we were bummed that he didn't close out his encore with Cuts You Up, I was stoked to see him pull out a cover and tribute to his friend Trent Reznor with a version of Hurt. The show was incredible as always.

Our Indy 500 Recap Video

So I was in Indy for the 500 a couple of weeks ago filming for one of my clients, Motegi Racing and here is one of the final cuts of the recap video. This really was a cool weekend combined with a couple of surprises from the past as well. Got to hang out with my old high school friend Chris Hayes, as well as seeing another BCHS alumn Tina Ploetz at the race. Great to catch up with both and the shoot was really something. If you haven't been to this event, its like the super bowl of racing.

Nike Reigns Once Again...

Just another reason why the creative marketing teams at Nike and Wieden + Kennedy continue to hand everyone their ass. A "country" was created to promote Nike soccer. Unbelievable.

My Interview at the Indy 500

So while up in Indianapolis for the 100th running of the 5oo, I was asked by a social media blogger to give my two cents on the benefits of social media from the agency side, to support onsite events such as this. We obviously were there for Motegi Racing, our client that sponsor three racers within the Indycar series including Paul Tracy, Justin Wilson and Townsend Bell.

I have discovered that the camera does indeed add 5 pounds. In my case apparently 60.

Good Luck With Your Journey......I Mean, Crazy.

So apparently I have not been paying attention to my calendar. Might have something to do with the overwhelming amount of work I have at the office and the fact I've been jetsetting all over the place. However, I discovered today that judgement day is supposed to start on Saturday. Or the Day of Rapture, or The Big Shit, or whatever you want to label it.  Personally, after hearing and seeing so many of these "doomsdays" come and go, I label it bat-shit crazy.

This from CNN today:

May 21, 2011, according to loyal listeners of Family Radio, a Christian broadcasting network based in Oakland, California, will mark the Day of Rapture and the start of Judgment Day (which, they say, will last five months). Those who are saved will be taken up to heaven, and those who aren’t will endure unspeakable suffering. Dead bodies will be strewn about as earthquakes ravage the Earth, they say. And come October 21, they’ll tell you, the entire world will be kaput.

Full story and video of the crazy...erm....I mean story here:

Apparently the whole thing is going to start with an earthquake. Which to be honest, would not surprise me with the weird weather patterns we have been having. However, I think this will most likely just be another Saturday where most of these "team members" will find themselves waking up outside their RV's in an open field somewhere surrounded by empty canned goods and feeling pretty ridiculous as they take their morning piss.

Round Abound.......

This is still one of my favorite spots of the last year or so. Tom Tom records Darth Vader. So damn funny.

Enjoy.
